Typical project materials

Connect parties, definitions, conditions, statements and notes across financial, commercial and legal documents.

  • Financial statements, their notes and audit reports
  • Commercial agreements and corporate records
  • Transaction, dispute and compliance materials

Making transaction files and financial evidence traceable

Finance and law projects may combine statements, due-diligence questions and transaction terms. Language work should retain each document’s basis while making shared entities and measures traceable across the set.

Measures and reporting periods

Preserve source definitions for revenue, adjusted measures and management measures, distinguishing reporting, comparative and forecast periods. Keep currency and scale attached to each table. Presentation summaries must not replace statement figures, and estimates must not become realized results.

Consolidation scope and note links

Check group, parent and subsidiary names and reporting boundaries, linking note references to the correct explanations. Preserve acquisitions, disposals and restated comparatives as stated. Similar names do not justify combining entities or removing meaningful account distinctions.

Linking clauses and financial definitions

Match payment conditions, calculation bases and milestones to referenced statements and definition schedules. Keep business days, settlement dates and effective dates distinct. Preserve conditional obligations and exceptions, raising cross-file inconsistencies for finance or legal review.

Organizing delivery evidence for different reviewers

Accounting, legal and business reviewers check different issues. Delivery records can follow measures, definitions and references so each team can confirm the decisions within its remit.

Entity and definition mapping

Map full names, short forms, roles and source files. Record defined contract terms with capitalization and applicable sections. Retain sources for historical and current names; a marketing abbreviation must not replace a contracting entity. Refer conflicting names to the designated reviewer.

Separating numerical and language revisions

Retain table structure, negative-number notation and blank markers. Log language edits separately from client-confirmed figure changes. Query discrepancies between totals and components at their source location rather than changing numbers or adding uncommissioned accounting adjustments or conversions.

Final versions and supplementary documents

Identify signing, disclosure and discussion versions separately. Trace references affected by later amendments or notes. A delivery can include a clean copy and query log while keeping unresolved accounting judgments and ambiguities traceable. A final filename is not client approval of the substance.

Establish shared working references

Provide project background, intended readers, source versions, terminology or approved translations, and the process for consolidating the designated specialist reviewer’s comments. Align file identifiers, names, units and change markers across teams and batches.

The language team handles the agreed translation, review and format checks. Technical, medical, financial or legal judgments in the source require the relevant professionals. Questions are documented and resolved rather than silently supplementing source conclusions.

A clear process at every stage

  1. 01

    Define the purpose

Specify files, languages, volume, receiving requirements and timing.

  2. 02

    Agree the plan

Confirm scope, references, review responsibilities, supporting work and delivery.

  3. 03

    Translate and review

Use subject references and check terms, numbers, tables and versions.

  4. 04

    Deliver and coordinate

Deliver the agreed files, consolidate feedback and confirm later updates.

Delivery, price and timing

Price and timing are assessed against language direction, word or page volume, subject matter, source clarity, editability, layout, review and supporting requirements. Changes to the source, languages or supporting work require a revised scope and plan.

Agree Word, PDF, Excel, subtitle or other formats, including any editable files, paper copies, statements or signatures actually needed. Supporting arrangements are defined for the particular purpose and receiving requirements.

Confirm the project details

Which figures apply when Chinese and English statements differ?

Confirm the designated source and issue status, then list discrepancies. The other language version is a comparison reference, not an automatic override. Update after the finance owner confirms the basis, retaining table, period, row, column and note references.

Can due-diligence materials be delivered by question list?

Organize batches by due-diligence question with file and page references. Carry shared definitions, entities and measures across batches and list missing or deferred items. Label summaries separately from full evidence translations so an answer is not mistaken for a verbatim record.

Can a contractual financial measure use a more familiar label?

Check the contractual definition and calculation schedule before using a familiar statement label. A differently defined measure may need its own term with a recorded scope. Changes to the definition or calculation require the client’s specialist decision.
